CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing FAQs

How does a CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing treatment work?

CO2 Fractional Resurfacing treatments targets age spots/sunspots, fine lines around the eyes, and other pigment irregularities such as melasma and uneven skin tone. The treatment uses microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into your skin. Only a fraction of tissue is treated at a time, leaving surrounding tissue intact, resulting in faster healing and results that stem from collagen remodeling. CO2 Fractional Resurfacing is the most aggressive laser treatment we offer but it has impressive anti-aging results. A few days of downtime with some redness and swelling is associated with treatment but the results are long lasting and dramatic.

Does CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing treatment hurt?

Most patients describe a "prickling" sensation during treatment. Topical anesthesia is applied an hour before the procedures. Immediately after the treatment, patients look and feel like they have a slight sunburn.

What side effects can I expect after treatment and how long will they last?

Swelling and redness are the most common side effects from Does CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing treatment. Any swelling is typically minimal and subsides within a day or two, and any redness typically fades within a few days. Other temporary side effects may include minor itching, dry skin, peeling or flaking, and a bronzed skin appearance. There is a very limited risk of infection, hyperpigmentation, or scarring. The intensity and duration of side effects depend on the aggressiveness of treatment and on your particular healing characteristics. Your physician will provide specific instructions about what to expect and how to minimize any side effects.
